Who We Are
About
We are a family-run business, working in and around Nottingham and Derby. Together we have 15 years of experience in garden design and development. Headed up by Christine Rowell, also known as the Gardening Gal. She was awarded an RHS Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture and has been in the horticultural industry since 2014.
Providing garden management and supervision services, she has worked in a very wide variety of gardens. About 8 years ago she decided to put her design skills and passion for plants to better use, culminating in Great Garden Designs. She now offers garden build services, with the focus on beautiful, healthy and resilient planting.
Our Approach
Our garden designer’s approach is to use solid design principles to bring about an outdoor space that delivers the client’s vision with balance and harmony. That’s how to make the garden ‘feel’ right. There needs to be space for the way you want to use your garden and beautiful, healthy, resilient planting.
Gardens are crucial for wildlife. Your garden doesn’t need to be ‘wild’ to encourage wildlife, offering different levels of safe cover, early food sources and using organic materials will sustain young birds and bees in spring. Providing a simple source of water, such as a low bowl for birds and animals to drink and bathe can be life-saving in our extremes of weather.
